Storm-battered Northern California gets more rain

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The latest in a series of storms dumped more rain across Northern California, but the region is expected to get a break from the wet weather over the next week.

The National Weather Service says the latest system brought up to two inches of rain to the northern half of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It followed three storm systems over the past week that dumped 15 to 20 inches of rain in some areas, leading to flash floods, toppled trees and power outages.

NWS forecaster Diana Henderson says the region is expected to see dry weather for at least the next week.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports a rock and mud slide closed both lanes of Highway 1 north of Jenner around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
