SAO PAULO (AP) -Uruguay striker Sebastian Abreu has been suspended for one match for kissing the emblem of a former team to provoke rival fans in a Brazilian league match last month.

Abreu was playing for Figueirense against Flamengo when he lifted his shirt and on a jersey underneath kissed the emblem of Botafogo, the main rival of Flamengo.

The shirt also bore the emblem of Nacional, his former team in Uruguay, and photos of his children.

Brazil's sports tribunal imposed the suspension, saying the incident encouraged violent behavior from Flamengo fans.

The punishment means little, however, as the ban will be served when Figueirense plays Cruzeiro later Wednesday and Abreu is with Uruguay for South American World Cup qualifying.
